Researchers have discovered that eating about two servings of strawberries daily can improve cognition and lower blood pressure. Reduce cholesterol levels and boost the antioxidant capacity of a person, according to Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi, the Chief Nutritionist of Apollo Hospitals

The strawberries, with their bright red hue and delicious sweetness, have been a popular choice by fruit lovers. Beyond their delicious taste and attractive appearance, research suggests that including strawberries in our diet can provide substantial brain and heart health advantages. They are packed with vital nutrients as well as powerful antioxidants. These delicious berries have been identified as a potential natural cure to improve cognitive and cardiovascular health.

According to a study, superfoods that are heart-healthy 2 portions of strawberries provide an ideal sweet treat.

San Diego State University researchers have discovered that eating the equivalent of two portions of strawberries a day could improve cognitive performance, lower blood pressure, and boost a person’s antioxidant capacity. Researchers selected 35 healthy men and women who were between the age of 66 to 78. For eight weeks, every day, the participant consume 26 grams of frozen-dried strawberries powder equal to two portions of fresh strawberries or a powder that was control. After eight weeks, people who consumed the strawberry powder increased cognitive speed by 5.2 per cent, reduced their blood pressure systolic by 3.6 per cent and improved their capacity to fight off antioxidants by 10.2 per cent compared to those who consumed their control dose.

The ability to lower blood pressure one of the main elements that impact the heart’s health is the regulation of blood pressure. High blood pressure (hypertension) is a significant risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease. Strawberries are an excellent food source of potassium. It is a mineral known for its capacity to relax blood vessels and decrease stress on the cardiovascular system. A study from 2019 released in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry found that the consumption of strawberries daily has led to a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure for postmenopausal females with hypertension.

Controlling cholesterol levels High LDL cholesterol levels (low-density lipoprotein) can contribute to atherosclerosis and heart disease progression. The antioxidants and dietary fiber found in strawberries help keep cholesterol levels healthy. The research published in the British Journal of Nutrition demonstrated that regular consumption of fresh strawberries led to a decrease in LDL cholesterol levels which helps to improve the heart’s health.

Antioxidant strength: Strawberries are rich in flavonoids, anthocyanins and polyphenols that act as powerful antioxidants. They fight inflammation and oxidative stress within blood vessels, which reduces the chance of endothelial disease and atherosclerosis. A study from 2017 that was published in Food and Function found that the antioxidant properties of strawberries helped improve the functioning of the blood vessel’s liner, which promotes improved circulation and a healthier heart.
The function of the brain: The brain requires an ongoing intake of oxygen and food to perform at its best. Strawberries are loaded with Vitamin C, which improves iron absorption and neurons, such as dopamine and serotonin. Furthermore, the rich anthocyanin content in strawberries is linked to better cognitive functioning and slower cognitive decline in older adults. An article published in Annals of Neurology suggested that consuming flavonoids like the ones found in strawberries was associated with a decreased chance of developing cognitive impairment.

Effects of neuroprotection: The rich antioxidant profile of strawberries isn’t just beneficial to the heart but also to the brain. Antioxidants can protect brain cells from oxidative stress, which is linked to neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. New research, such as research published that was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, suggests that strawberries could help in neuroprotection as well as support a healthy brain aged.

Anti-inflammatory characteristics: Chronic inflammation in the brain could lead to neurological diseases. The anti-inflammatory properties of the berry, due to its polyphenols, aid in reducing inflammation and its possible adverse effects on the brain’s health. A study by the scientific journal Nutrients discovered that dietary polyphenols, like those in strawberries, hold the potential to control brain inflammation and improve cognitive outcomes.

Adopting a routine of eating strawberries every day could be an easy yet effective way to improve brain and heart health. They can lower blood pressure, control cholesterol levels, and supply abundant antioxidants; strawberries provide a wide range of health benefits for your cardiovascular. Additionally, their benefits for cognitive health, such as improved cognitive performance, neuroprotection, and anti-inflammatory properties, are excellent options for promoting healthy brain function throughout the lifespan.

But it is crucial to remember that strawberries must be a part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle and not be viewed as a cure-all. It is essential to be cautious to avoid excessive consumption, which could result in unintended consequences, for instance, a rise in the blood sugar level for certain people. Like any other dietary alteration, it is advisable to speak with a doctor, particularly if someone is suffering from any health issues or issues. Incorporating strawberry juice into your daily routine is an enjoyable and healthy way to take control of your health of, brain and heart.
