You Must Have:
- 10+ years of experience in data modeling and data warehousing
- 5+ experience in AWS Redshift, RDS, Aurora services
- 5+ years of experience in implementing complex data storage architectures on both cloud and on-prem environments, handling both structured and unstructured data
- Very good understanding of data models and design patterns in data warehouses
- Experience with Star schema and Snowflake modelling
- Experience with other data platform implementations like Oracle, MySQL, and NoSQL
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology.
- AWS Cloud certification
- Experience with Cloudera (with Hadoop, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Pig)
- Prior working experience with SAP HANA
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills coupled with a strong work ethic
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the overall planning for the future direction of database software in support of the Enterprise mission and goals
- Guide Database engineering strategy from a management perspective with an operational background
- Provide standards, procedures, and guidelines for the effective and secure use of the databases and database features
- Monitor and maintain production and non-production database and Datawarehouse environments
- Provide database backup and recovery services including recurring verification of backups
- Installation, upgrades, and maintenance of enterprise database software including but not limited to Redshift, Aurora, Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.
- Monitor and maintain the security of the databases and database software (with other groups)
- Provide migration services to oversee changes to the production environments
- 24-hour production problem support including review and resolution of database related log and monitoring messages
- Create and maintain physical database structures including
- Maintain personal, proprietary and/or confidential data in the strictest confidence and follows procedures to ensure the privacy, security, and proper use of data
- Perform application database design assessments with technical Product Owners to build and deploy complex database solutions that meet business needs
- Mentor team members with database functionality and provides guidelines and solutions on performance tuning techniques and industry best practices.
- Participation on Agile/Scrum activities
- Partner with and evaluate external vendor offerings to help enhance the database service to better meet business needs and align to those strategies.
