What are we looking for?
Key responsibilities
- Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions.
- Design client-side and server-side architecture.
- Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design.
- Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.
- Write effective APIs.
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software.
- Create security and data protection settings.
- Build features and applications with a mobile-responsive design.
- Write technical documentation.
- Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software.
- Develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-quality software solutions using Python, React, and relevant libraries/frameworks.
- Optimize applications by leveraging suitable libraries and integrating APIs.
- Create and maintain robust, automated unit tests to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies to ensure project success.
- Experience in mobile applications is a plus.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Python backend Developer or similar role with 7+ years of experience in Python backend development.
- Familiarity with common stacks.
- Solid understanding of system design.
- Proficient in integrating APIs into Python (FAST API, Flask) applications and API testing.
- Familiarity with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and UI/UX design.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Basic understanding of MLOps is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work in the Canadian time zone (UTC/GMT -6 hours).
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or relevant field are preferred.
