SonyLIV is seeking an experienced Android developer to help us build exceptional applications that make a difference
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
- Android app development, with a strong portfolio of published apps on the Google Play Store.
- Proficiency in Kotlin programming language and a deep understanding of Android SDK, frameworks, and architecture components.
- Proficiency in Exo Player framework for implementing media playback and streaming capabilities within android applications is good to have
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for sharing code between Android and other platforms, such as iOS, web, or backend (a plus).
- Exposure to Jetpack Compose for building modern, declarative UIs in Android applications (a plus).
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and familiarity with tools like Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Passion for learning and continuous improvement, with a proactive mindset towards exploring new technologies and approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications that meet the needs of our users and stakeholders, spanning both mobile phones and Android TV platforms.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other team members to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Architect scalable and maintainable Android applications, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
- Lead and mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and support to foster their growth and development.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in Android development for both mobile and TV platforms, and advocate for their adoption where applicable.
- Continuously optimize application performance, user experience, and code quality through iterative development and testing.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with other engineering teams to drive innovation and achieve shared goals.
