Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing new features and functionality.
- Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture.
- Ensuring high performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.
- Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin.
- Developing custom themes and plugins as needed.
- Troubleshooting and resolving website problems for clients and co-workers.
- Ensuring seamless integration of APIs and third-party services.
- Conducting website performance tests and monitoring.
- Collaborating with the design team to ensure projects meet objectives.
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest web development trends and technologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a WordPress developer.
- Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
- Experience designing and developing responsive design websites.
- Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
- Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML).
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial.
- Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
- Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with WooCommerce and other e-commerce plugins.
- Knowledge of web analytics tools like Google Analytics.
- Experience with performance and optimization tools.
- Familiarity with modern web hosting environments and management.
